Start with the basics
In ordinary water, hydrogen is bound to oxygen as H₂O. Hydrogen water also contains molecular hydrogen gas—H₂. Active H2 tablets generate this gas when they react in water.
Hydrogen bonded to oxygen
Two hydrogen atoms joined together
Illustration of molecular structure; not to scale.
Hydrogen is the lightest element. Two hydrogen atoms form H₂, the lightest molecule. Its small size lets it diffuse readily through biological membranes. Researchers are studying how it interacts with the body’s responses to oxidative stress and exercise.
Molecular size helps explain the scientific interest; it does not, on its own, establish a health benefit.
What happens in your glass
The magnesium in Active H2 reacts in water, with the help of the formula’s organic acids, to produce molecular hydrogen gas. You prepare it when you’re ready to drink.
Place one tablet in 10–12 ounces of water. Use drinking water; the tablet does not filter or purify it.
Allow the tablet to dissolve completely. The reaction generates hydrogen gas in the water.
Drink immediately after the tablet has dissolved. Hydrogen gas gradually escapes, so prepare each glass fresh.
Label directions: one tablet, 1–3 times per day. Follow the directions on your pack. Do not swallow the tablet whole.
Why molecular hydrogen?
The interest in hydrogen water comes from research into how the body responds to physical effort and oxidative stress. Here are three areas scientists have explored in people.
Small trials have reported promising findings in muscle function and fatigue during exercise. Results vary with the activity and study design. [1]
Researchers have measured changes in antioxidant activity and blood-cell responses. Some findings are encouraging, while others show no difference from plain water. [2]
A longer trial in adults with metabolic syndrome reported changes in several blood markers. This research is specific to that population and regimen. [3]
These studies investigate hydrogen-rich water. They are not presented as trials of Active H2 Ultra or a promise of individual results.

Why make it with a tablet?
The original Active H2 idea is simple: make hydrogen water in an open glass, wherever you have drinking water.
A glass, drinking water and one tablet are all you need.
Choose a bottle for your daily routine or individually sealed Raspberry tablets to take along.
Each tablet provides 80 mg of magnesium—19% of the Daily Value shown on the label.

In a double-blind crossover pilot, hydrogen-rich water was associated with lower exercise-related lactate and less early decline in muscle torque. Oxidative-injury markers and creatine kinase did not significantly change. The small sample limits how broadly the results apply.

Overall changes in several antioxidant and oxidative-stress markers did not differ between groups; one antioxidant finding was confined to an age subgroup.

It studied adults with metabolic syndrome, not a general healthy population. It does not establish weight-loss or disease-treatment benefits for Active H2 Ultra.

Explore the study summariesThe formula has a mild raspberry flavor. It contains natural raspberry powder and Chinese blackberry extract.
Both Ultra flavors provide 80 mg of magnesium per tablet. Unflavored lists malic acid, dextrose, tartaric acid, adipic acid and sodium stearyl fumarate. Raspberry also lists natural raspberry powder and Chinese blackberry extract. See your selected product label for the full ingredient list.
No. “Alkaline” describes pH. Hydrogen water contains molecular hydrogen gas. A high pH alone does not tell you how much H₂ is in a drink.
Prepare each glass when you’re ready to drink. Allow the tablet to dissolve completely, then drink immediately, as directed on the label.
No. Active H2 generates molecular hydrogen in water; it does not remove contaminants. Start with water that is suitable for drinking.
