The biological terrain

Your internal ocean.

Think of the fluids surrounding your cells as your own “internal ocean.” This is part of your bioterrain: the environment through which cells receive nutrients and release waste. Water and minerals belong at the foundation of caring for it.

Why minerals matter

01

Fluid balance

Electrolytes help regulate the movement and balance of water in the body.

02

Nutrient transport

Electrolytes help move nutrients into cells and waste products out.

03

Muscles and nerves

Minerals including sodium, potassium and magnesium have roles in normal muscle and nerve function.

Minerals play these roles as part of your overall nutrition. A varied diet and adequate fluid intake are the starting point.

Fortify your foundation.

Cleaner water comes first in the Terrain Protocol. Minerals come next. Quinton is our marine-mineral offering: a liquid supplement in an individual serving, with two concentrations to choose from.

From the origins of life

A marine source. A long history.

The sea was the starting point for René Quinton’s work. Today, Quinton is prepared from seawater collected in the Bay of Biscay and cold-microfiltered in the laboratory. Its ocean origin remains central to the product.

How Quinton is prepared

Minerals & trace elements

Up to 78 minerals & trace elements.

Quinton’s marine source contains up to 78 minerals and trace elements, including magnesium, calcium and potassium, alongside elements present in much smaller amounts.

Get to know the elements.

Select a mineral or trace element below. These are ten examples from the published marine composition.

Sodium

Present as dissolved ions. Sodium is an electrolyte involved in fluid balance and normal muscle and nerve function.

Magnesium

Helps regulate muscle and nerve function and is involved in making protein, bone and DNA.

Chloride

The dissolved chloride ion is the form discussed in mineral nutrition. Chloride contributes to the body’s fluid balance.

Potassium

Supports normal cell function. Your body needs it for muscle contraction and nerve transmission.

Calcium

Helps build and maintain bones and teeth. It is also needed for muscles to move and nerves to carry messages.

Manganese

A trace element listed in Quinton’s marine composition. Trace elements occur in much smaller amounts than the main mineral salts.

Copper

Copper is among the trace elements listed in Quinton’s marine composition.

Zinc

Zinc is among the trace elements listed in Quinton’s marine composition.

Lithium

Listed as a trace constituent of the marine source. Inclusion here describes composition, not an essential nutrient requirement or a therapeutic dose.

Vanadium

Listed as a trace constituent of the marine source. Inclusion here describes composition, not an essential nutrient requirement or a therapeutic dose.

Amounts differ by element and formula. The 78-element description is a composition count, not a daily nutritional allowance.

Minerals, food & the soil

What nourishes the soil helps nourish us.

Plants draw minerals from the soil. The variety grown and its growing conditions influence what reaches our plate. That connection is one reason Robert has long encouraged people to pay attention to mineral nutrition.

Has the nutrient content of food changed?

Researchers comparing USDA data for 43 garden crops from 1950 and 1999 found apparent declines in six nutrients, including calcium and iron, across the group. Seven others showed no statistically reliable change. The authors pointed to changes in crop varieties and yield as a possible explanation.

Portrait of René Quinton

René Quinton · 1866–1925

Scientist. Biologist. Explorer.

Who was René Quinton?

René Quinton was a French researcher fascinated by the relationship between seawater and the internal environment of living organisms. His work became the foundation of the laboratory that bears his name.

  1. 1904

    The book

Quinton publishes L’Eau de Mer, milieu organique, setting out his ideas about seawater and living organisms.

  2. 1905

    The laboratory

He establishes his laboratory, the beginning of the organization behind today’s Quinton products.

  3. 1906

    The Paris dispensary

Quinton opens his first marine dispensary in Paris.

Robert Slovak · Water & Wellness co-founder

The man who brought Quinton to North America.

Robert first encountered Quinton while working in Brazil in 2004. For an engineer who had spent decades studying water, it opened a new chapter: the minerals naturally carried in water, and their place in everyday wellness.

In 2006, he introduced Quinton to clinics and practitioners in North America. Today, Robert continues that work through education and Water & Wellness—helping people understand the differences between Quinton formulas and how to use them.

The original research belongs to René Quinton, the French physiologist whose work began more than a century ago. Robert’s contribution is bringing that legacy to a new audience.

Collection & preparation

From the ocean to the ampoule.

  1. 01

    Careful collection

Quinton selects specific ocean collection sites as the starting point for its marine products.

  2. 02

    Cold microfiltration

The seawater is filtered at 0.22 microns under controlled laboratory conditions.

  3. 03

    Two concentrations

Hypertonic retains the seawater concentration. Isotonic is diluted with spring water for a lower salt concentration.

How Quinton is prepared

Start with the formula

Isotonic or Hypertonic?

The main difference is mineral concentration. Isotonic is diluted with spring water. Hypertonic is the more concentrated solution.

0.9%

Isotonic

Marine minerals diluted with spring water. The lower-concentration option in the oral range.

  • Glass: Quinton Isotonic
  • Sachets: QuintEssential 0.9

3.3%

Hypertonic

Undiluted marine minerals. The higher-concentration option, also used for remineralizing drinking water.

  • Glass: Quinton Hypertonic
  • Sachets: QuintEssential 3.3

Then choose the packaging

Glass ampoules or sachets?

QuintEssential is the sachet version: 0.9 is Isotonic, and 3.3 is Hypertonic.

Original Quinton ampoules

Individual glass ampoules for your daily routine. Follow the opening instructions on the box.

QuintEssential sachets

Portable, glass-free sachets for travel, work, and busy days. Choose 0.9 for Isotonic or 3.3 for Hypertonic.

Taking Quinton

A few practical details.

01

The taste

Quinton has a salty taste. Hypertonic is more concentrated; Isotonic is diluted with spring water.

02

Opening your serving

Choose glass ampoules or glass-free sachets. Follow the opening instructions on your pack, especially when handling glass.

03

How much to take

Follow the directions on your chosen product. Ingredients and serving information are available on each product page.

A separate routine · Nasal care

Looking for a nasal spray?

Choose Daily for everyday saline cleansing and moisture, or explore the more concentrated Action Plus formula for targeted care. Follow the directions and age guidance on your spray.

Before you order

A few common questions.

Are Quinton and QuintEssential different formulas?

Quinton Isotonic pairs with QuintEssential 0.9, and Quinton Hypertonic pairs with QuintEssential 3.3. Within each pair, the oral solution is the same concentration; the packaging is glass ampoules versus sachets.

Do I need both Isotonic and Hypertonic?

You can choose one formula. Compare the concentration and product directions, then select the format you prefer. A bundle is optional.

Can I add Quinton to drinking water?

Hypertonic and QuintEssential 3.3 are the oral options used for adding minerals to drinking water. Check the product directions for use. Nasal sprays are a separate range and are not drinking-water additives.

How much should I take?

Follow the directions on your specific product. Review the ingredients and label guidance, and ask your healthcare professional about suitability if you have a medical condition or need to limit sodium.
